SkillsetGroup is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to work in the Vernon, CA area. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of accounting experience with exposure to Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable. This position will support month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, AP processing, inventory reporting, customer billing, and other general accounting functions. Candidates should be comfortable working with ERP/accounting systems and have strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and PivotTables. Junior Staff Accountant
Contract-to-Hire opportunity
Payrate: $26-28/hr.
Work schedule: Monday – Friday: 8AM-5PM (open to overtime as needed)
Responsibilities & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience; Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
- Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, worksheets, account reconciliations, and review of ERP transactions.
- Review account balances, identify variances, and research discrepancies.
- Handle AP-related functions, including check processing, positive pay bank files, and AP check registers.
- Prepare weekly sales, inventory, and financial reports using the company’s ERP/accounting system.
- Review and reconcile inventory and raw material activity, including volumes, customer billing, and customer payments.
- Process monthly product code updates and customer rebates.
- Review transactions and charges and obtain management approval when required.
- Verify company vehicle expense reporting and assist with periodic business filings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and PivotTables.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records and follow established accounting and company procedures.
- Willing to work additional hours when necessary to meet deadlines.
