Description:
Seeking a professional and talented Controller to manage the accounting operations within a manufacturing industry. This would include production of financial reports, budgets, accounting records, and reconciliations. Provide leadership and look at opportunities for cost savings, business and contract management, along with system improvements. Perform as an expert in all aspects of financial planning, reporting, controls, legal, and administration including essential functions mentioned below.
Job duties:
Review and prepare financial statements and ensure accuracy
Prepare projected cash flow statements
Manage all accounting functions, including financial reports, cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, closing of the general ledger, forecasting, and financial analysis
Manage and analyze operations expenses, budget and income statements
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, statements of cash flow, and other financial reports periodically
Perform cost variance analysis monthly
Reconcile financial accounts, such as journal entries and accruals including depreciation and amortization schedules; review and analyze register, journal, and general ledger entries to ensure that transactions are properly recorded
Perform other functions and assignments as needed and assigned by CEO
Prepare, maintain and analyze product standard cost including cost roll over in the system.
Preparation of detailed monthly forecasts for the full year based upon the production drivers and key performance metrics at the facility
Protect and raise the flag when margins are at risk
Manage the timely completion of the month-end financial close
Prepare all post-closing plant financial analysis, performance reports and meaningful commentary including detail manufacturing variance analysis.
Demonstrate awareness of all elements of a plant’s financial statements
Partner with plant management to increase plant efficiency and profitability
Prepare analysis to understand the financial ramifications of current and proposed business actions
Identify issues and proactively initiate analyses / solutions to plant issues and raise the flag when margins are at risk.
Plan and oversee annual physical count of inventory. Implement strong cycle counting system and controls and reconcile inventory.
Track cost reduction projects and maintain required reporting
Evaluate and provide financial analysis for capital appropriation request.
Support six sigma by auditing results, training black belts, and suggesting new projects.
Prepare and coordinate the annual budget at the plant level
Supervise and develop Cost Analyst and Cost Accountant including goal and objective setting and training
Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Review general contracts, terms, and agreements for business functions.
Recommend redline changes to new or existing business and vendors / contracts.
Oversee general accounting team and job functions.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
10+ years of accounting/finance experience in agriculture industry required
15+ years in accounting/ finance overall
Food manufacturing industry experience a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and MAS 90
CPA strongly preferred
Cost accounting and inventory experience
A strong emphasis should be put on knowledge of management accounting, cost and inventory accounting, and GAAP.
10+ years in Accounting in the Agricultural industry
Experience using SAP Inventory and Costing module is a must
